Arizona Cardinals’ QB Kyler Murray expected to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons

The Arizona Cardinals activated quarterback Kyler Murray on Tuesday, and he’s expect to start Sunday when the Arizona Cardinals face the Atlanta Falcons in a Week 10 game. Murray will make his 2023 season debut barring any setbacks during the week, Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon said Monday.

The No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL draft and former Heisman Trophy winner hasn’t played since suffering a torn ACL during Week 14 of the 2022 season.

Gannon cautioned not to expect the pre-injury Murray when he takes the field Sunday.

“We got to be willing to understand that it might not look like Kyler,” Gannon told reporters Monday. “And I think he’s got a good expectation of that. The coaches have a good expectation of that, but I know this: He’s going to come out there and play his game and help us win.”

Gannon made the decision following a disastrous 27-0 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the Cardinals’ sixth consecutive loss and dropped their record to 1-8.

Rookie quarterback Clayton Tune got his first NFL start and struggled mightily against the Browns. Tune completed 11-of-20 passes for just 58 yards with two interceptions. The Cardinals’ offense generated just 58 yards of offense in the game.
