Former Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs stands out in back-to-back games for Detroit Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs has become impactful for a team that finally good for the first time in decades. The Lions improved to 7-2 on the season after Sunday’s 41-38 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Dan Campbell, Detroit’s head coach, decided to select Gibbs with the Lions’ first pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. Gibbs, a former Alabama running back, was taken at No. 12 overall.

His breakout performance came last week against the Las Vegas Raiders. He totaled 152 yards rushing, 37 yards receiving, and a touchdown in a 26-14 victory for the Lions. Gibbs returned with the first multi-touchdown game of his career. He posted two rushing scores versus the Chargers and 77 yards rushing. The native Georgian also had 35 yards receiving on three catches.
He is becoming more comfortable with Jared Goff in the passing game and complements David Montgomery well.
Gibbs transferred to the University of Alabama from Georgia Tech and needed one year with the Crimson Tide. He collected 926 yards rushing, 444 yards receiving, and 10 touchdowns in 2022. Gibbs was Alabama’s leader for receptions (44) and propelled it to a 45-20 victory over Kansas State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. He is trying to help the Lions make a deep run in the playoffs
