Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior will be without two of his key men this weekend at Millwall

Hull City rocked by latest injury worry as key man set for lengthy absence

The injuries are mounting up for head coach Liam Rosenior ahead of the October international break

Hull City’s injury curse has returned to haunt them once again after it was revealed key midfielder Regan Slater will be sidelined for the next two months at least. Slater missed Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat against an in-form Ipswich Town side at Portman Road with a hamstring problem which, after scans on Monday, revealed it was worse than originally feared.

The 24-year-old was taken off in the second half of City’s 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday as a precaution and it had been expected he would miss the midweek clash in Suffolk but be available for the weekend trip to Millwall, but he will now be sidelined until the end of the year.

City’s in-form midfielder had bagged goals in the last two games at Stoke City and then in the stalemate with the Pilgrims, and the news comes at a time when Rosenior is already without influential playmaker Ozan Tufan. Like Slater, the Turkish international sat out the game at Ipswich, having also missed last weekend’s encounter.

Tufan’s injury will keep him out of Saturday’s meeting at The Den but it’s hoped the upcoming international break will give him time to recover, and the club will assess Lewie Coyle after he came off with another blow to the face in the second half which, it’s understood, required a check-up in hospital.

Despite the result and Slater prognosis, however, there was positive news with the return of Dogukan Sinik and Greg Docherty who both were given minutes on the pitch in the latter stages of the game, while Jason Lokilo is expected to be available this weekend.

Unfortunately, he’s probably out for the next eight weeks. He’s got quite a tear in his hamstring which is a real blow and we definitely missed his energy in the middle of the pitch today,” Rosenior told Hull Live.

“They’re two outstanding players (Slater and Tufan), but that’s why I kept saying in the summer we need to build a squad. I’ve got a good squad. I’ve not lost any faith in them after tonight but what we all need to do, myself included, is respond really well in the next game.
