Youri Tielemans linked with quick Aston Villa exit following Leicester City decision
The latest Leicester City news as the former midfielder has not enjoyed a successful time at his new club after leaving the King Power Stadium in the summer.
Former Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has been linked with an exit from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, just six months after joining the Premier League club from City.
The Belgium international left City this summer, following the expiry of his contract, meaning he was available on a free transfer. Tielemans had been open about his ambition of playing Champions League football – one of the reasons he hadn’t previously signed a new contract with City despite talks taking place.
He however signed for Villa in the summer, with the club taking part in the Europa Conference League this season. It’s a competition Tielemans knows well, having reached the semi-final with City in 2022.

Having been a key player for City in his time at the club, he was unable to help the side avoid relegation before moving on. But his time at Villa has not started how he would have hoped.
The 26-year-old is yet to start in the Premier League this season. And ratings of his performances in the starts he has had in the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup, haven’t exactly been glowing.
It has led to a suggestion that both Tielemans and the player could cut their losses and move on in January. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, both Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid are showing an interest in the former City man ahead of a possible transfer.
The report adds that Tielemans is ‘far from happy with his current situation’ and is ‘seriously evaluating the possibility of embarking on a new path in his career.’ The midfielder signed a deal at Villa Park until 2027, meaning that the club could get a fee for him should he move on in the winter.
