Raptors Update Injury Report as Team Opts to Take it Slow with Otto Porter Jr.
After being held out through the first four games of the year, Porter made his season debut Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. It had been almost a year since Porter saw NBA action after a toe injury ended his season last year on Nov. 14.
“I did not feel that it’s fair to him just to throw him out there and play games. Medically, he was capable. But he went these last seven days through a bunch of play groups, and he looked really good,” Raptors coach Darko Rajaković said Wednesday night following a blowout victory over the Bucks. “He’s starting to get his legs under him. And when he’s ready to go out on the court to play, he’s a hell of a player to help us.”
Porter played nearly 16 minutes against the Bucks, chipping in six points, and was a plus-11 in his stint.
But with a back-to-back Thursday night in Philadelphia, Toronto has ruled Porter out as he continues to work his way back into game shape, the team announced.
The Raptors are also expecting to be without Precious Achiuwa who remains doubtful with a left groin strain. He’s missed Toronto’s last two games with the injury and was forced out of most of the preseason with the same ailment.
Christian Koloko too remains out for Toronto as he continues battling a respiratory issue.
The 76ers, meanwhile, will only be without Nicholas Batum who is tending to a personal matter.
