Cardiff City player ratings v Middlesbrough as defender and midfielder both have off nights
Here is how the Bluebirds rated in the clash with the Teessiders
Cardiff City trekked to Middlesbrough on Tuesday night for yet another instalment of Championship action.
The Bluebirds fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Boro, thanks to goals from Isaiah Jones and Emmanuel Latte Lath. It was a disappointing performance from City, who failed to really stamp their mark on the game. You can read the match report here.
As ever, WalesOnline ran the rule over the young and inexperienced team at the Riverside Stadium. Here is how the players rated in the clash.
Jak Alnwick 6 – Saved a stinger from Sam Greenwood in the first half and punched clear the odd cross into the box. Made a great stop to deny Morgan Rogers late on. None of the goals his fault.
Ebou Adams 4 – Out of position and at times it looked like it, Boro got the most joy down his flank. But he has a knack of getting his toe in at the right time. Not entirely his fault, but a real off night for him.
Mark McGuinness 7 – An unflappable presence at the heart of Cardiff’s defence. On the rare occasion the ball was in the air he was there to head it clear.
Dimitrios Goutas 8 (star man) – Probably the pick of the bunch at the back. Flung his body in the way of balls into the box, headed well, tackled well. Stopped a late shot from Marcus Forss as the last man. Another very good showing. Booked for dissent.
Perry Ng 6 – Considering he was on the wrong flank, he adapted really well and struck up a nice partnership with Grant ahead of him. Booked.
Joe Ralls 6 – A vital cog in that midfield, stopping Boro playing through the middle. Composed and tidy with the ball, too.
