Scottie Barnes ‘Fine’ After Leaving Raptors Game With Foot Sprain
For a moment, it looked like a perfect preseason for the Toronto Raptors might not be so perfect.
Scottie Barnes was forced to exit Friday’s blowout victory over the Washington Wizards early with what appeared to be a right ankle sprain. He was immediately ruled out with what the team called a right foot sprain.
The news post-game though was positive.
“He’s fine,” said Raptors coach Darko Rajaković. “I did not actually see the play, they just told me that it was knee to knee-to-knee hit, he’s going to be fine.”
Rajaković’s explanation is a little confusing considering Barnes’ injury was on his foot, but Barnes left the arena without any issues and did not need a brace or medical boot to walk.

The injury is only worrisome in that Barnes has dealt with ankle injuries in the past. He came into last season having missed three weeks heading into training camp with an ankle injury. He then sprained his ankle again in the third game of the season against the Miami Heat.
Otherwise, Toronto ended the preseason with virtually no injuries. Precious Achiuwa returned for the preseason finale and looked good as he worked his way back from a left groin strain. Jakob Poeltl returned from an illness and said he felt good in his minutes. Otto Porter Jr. too returned as the team looks to take it slowly with him over the course of the season.
