What Turkish sources are now saying about Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele
Journalist Charlie Eccleshare has shared that one contact in Turkey described Tanguy Ndombele as a liability as the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder struggles at the beginning of his loan spell at Galatasaray.
Tottenham’s hopes of ever receiving a transfer fee for the Frenchman are surely all but dashed at this point, judging by what the journalist has written for The Athletic.
Tanguy Ndombele has been such a disappointing signing for Spurs. Of course, the club would have long given up hope of recouping what they paid for the 26-year-old.
He has been out on loan a couple of times now. And his switch to Galatasaray in the summer appeared to represent the final chance to build his stock up again.
Unfortunately, things have not gone to plan.
Tanguy Ndombele proving to be a liability at Galatasaray
Reports from Fotospor this week claimed that Gala already want to terminate Ndombele’s loan due to his unprofessional behaviour.
Unfortunately for the Turkish club, Ndombele is set to remain Galatasaray’s responsibility for the remainder of the season.
Charlie Eccleshare has told The Athletic that there is no clause which allows Ndombele’s loan to be terminated early. Meanwhile, he shared how one contact labelled him a ‘liability’.
“It’s been a disappointing start to life at Galatasaray for Ndombele, with one contact in Turkey describing him to me as “a liability”. The fans have turned on him and there have been reports that he is overweight and Galatasaray would like to terminate his loan deal in January,” he wrote.
“An early termination is not possible — despite credible suggestions Galatasaray would go down that route if they could — so it will be down to Ndombele to try to turn things around.”
Tottenham midfielder’s contract cannot end soon enough
Interestingly, the journalist added that Ndombele is actually happy in Istanbul. And he is working with a personal trainer as he currently deals with an adductor injury. So perhaps the situation could turn around at some stage.
It is such a shame that Ndombele’s career has got to this point. It was little more than four years ago that he was marking his debut as Tottenham’s record signing by scoring a brilliant goal against Aston Villa.
Several managers have given up on Ndombele in the years since. And given what Ange Postecoglou has got out of many of the players within his ranks, it says everything that he found no place for someone as talented as Ndombele in his plans.
At this stage, it feels as though all parties are just waiting for the moment Ndombele’s contract expires.
