The Tampa Bay Buccaneers break their losing streak; improve to 4-5
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers returned to the win column for the first time since Oct. 1 with a 20-6 victory over the Tennessee Titans. With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 4-5 and are inching closer the 5-5 division-leading Saints.
Baker Mayfield and Co. put together one of their most complete performances of the season, while the defense kept the Titans out of the end zone. Despite a shaky first quarter consisting of an interception and three-and-out, the Buccaneers were able to bounce back with a 43-yard touchdown by Rachaad White in the second quarter.
The Buccaneers began to pull ahead in the third quarter after a 7-3 halftime lead, starting with a 25-yard field goal. One drive later and with 2:46 remaining in the third, Mayfield found Mike Evans for a 22-yard touchdown.
Mayfield went 18-of-29 for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. White continued to impress as a dual threat, recording 51 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards. Evans led the team with 143 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions.
While the Buccaneers won, the New Orleans Saints fell to the Minnesota Vikings in a 27-19 loss. With the Buccaneers improving to 4-5 and the Saints standing at 5-5, Tampa Bay is one step closer to playoff contention.
