‘They’re afraid to look Cardiff City in the eye!’ – Turkish media rave about Erol Bulut, who is ‘rocking England’ and ‘can’t be stopped’
The Turkish media claim Erol Bulut is ‘blowing a storm’ at Cardiff City after a magnificent eight days in which his team claimed nine points
Erol Bulut’s Cardiff City are quietly catching the eye – and not just in the UK. No, the Turkish manager has more than one prying eye on him back in Turkey, the country in which he built his managerial reputation.
Having managed Fenerbahce, one of the big three clubs Turkey, it’s not totally unsurprising that the media there are following his every move. The same happens when former Liverpool or Manchester United managers move to other countries, there is an appetite to see how they fare elsewhere.
Fenerbahce is a huge club with a highly-zoomed media microscope looking at it. Bulut knows the pressures of managing a big club but sought a new, exciting challenge in the capital of Wales this summer. After a relatively rocky start, tainted somewhat by conceding late goals which means City are arguably a few points behind where they should be, Bulut really has his side up and running now. After an eight-day stretch which saw the Bluebirds win three games, including their arch-rivals Swansea, Bulut has his side cooking and they are up into seventh place in the Championship table. He has helped to turn Cardiff from a circus into a well-oiled machine, which you can read about here.
And Cardiff are hitting the headlines on the continent, thanks to Bulut. Turkish media are raving about the job he is doing with the Bluebirds and they are right to do so. Cardiff have not enjoyed such a positive start to a season since Neil Warnock was at the helm in 2017/18 – and we all know how that season ended…
Let’s not get carried away, though! Turkish media outlets are purring over the sight of Bulut’s results and performances in the Bluebirds dugout, with the 3-2 defeat against Ipswich Town, a game in which they threw away a 2-0 lead in the final half an hour, the only match they haven’t won in their last six in all competitions.
Turkish outlet Sabah led with the headline: “Erol Bulut is rocking England! The former Fenerbahce coach is leaving his mark on the league.” Hurriyet, another big outlet in Turkey, went strong with their lead on Bulut, writing: “They’re even afraid to make eye contact with Erol Bulut’s Cardiff City!”
