Jets’ Three Active Running Backs Carry Injury Designation for Week 13 Home Game

Hall, Cook, Abanikanda all questionable to face Falcons on Sunday at MetLife Stadium

The New York Jets’ top three running backs have all landed on the injury report ahead of Sunday’s non-conference home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Starter Breece Hall, backup Dalvin Cook and fifth-round rookie Israel Abanikanda are all questionable to face the Falcons on December 3, according to Friday’s official injury report. All three ball carriers were active for last week’s Black Friday setback to Miami.

In a positive development, after being limited in back-to-back practices, Hall was upgraded to a full participant on Friday. The Jets’ RB1 is dealing with a hamstring, but it doesn’t appear serious enough to prevent him from playing in Week 13.

While Hall improved, Cook appeared on the injury report for the first time this week on Friday. The 28-year-old veteran, who is reportedly hampered by a shoulder issue, was a limited practice participant.

“Dalvin is going to pop up on the injury report dealing with an AC shoulder, but I think he should be fine,” said Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh on Friday morning in Florham Park.

Neither Hall nor Cook have missed a game yet this season.

As for Abanikanda, who saw no snaps against the Dolphins in Week 12, has been slowed by an illness the past few days. The Brooklyn-born running back was a non-participant on Wednesday and Thursday before joining practice in a limited capacity on Friday.

“Izzy is going to be limited today,” said Saleh. “He is starting to feel a little bit better.”

Hall is the Jets’ leading rusher, having carried 124 times for 569 yards and two touchdowns. He is also responsible for 320 receiving yards and two TD receptions.

With Hall, Cook and Abanikanda being the only three running backs on the team’s 53-man roster, the Jets could be forced to elevate rookie Xazavian Valladay from the Practice Squad. The deadline to do so is Saturday at 4:00 pm ET.
