Throughout the Cleveland Browns’ active and inactive choices against the Pittsburgh Steelers

Inside The Cleveland Browns Active & Inactive Decisions vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Looking at how the Cleveland Browns are choosing their game day roster and who the inactives are against the Pittsburgh Steelers

Lots of focus goes on the 53-man roster for NFL teams, but the core roster is the 48 that suit up on game day. Before each game, when the 48-man roster is announced I will look to see who is inactive and if we can learn anything from this. In addition, we’ll be keeping a record of who has been inactive for how many games throughout the year.

Below are the numbers broken down by game for the 2022 season to give you an idea of how Kevin Stefanski has worked in the past.

NOTE: Demetric Felton was counted a wide receiver in these numbers, as that is how he was used in 2022.

Practice Squad Elevations

Each week, teams can elevate two players from the practice squad that can then be used on the game day roster. Teams don’t need to elevate any players though and they might not for most weeks because these players come with a cost on the salary cap.

You can elevate a player from the practice squad three times across the season. This is to ensure competitive balance and stop teams from effectively locking 55 players into their roster with a handshake agreement.

This week no one was elevated which gives confidence that both Jones and Dunn were good to go. They wouldn’t have activated him off of IR yet if they didn’t need him.
