John McGinn will spend ‘rest of his days’ at Aston Villa despite Villa Park exit links
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
John McGinn will spend “the rest of his days” at Aston Villa despite him being open to a move before Unai Emery’s arrival, according to Ty Bracey.
The Athletic reported (24 October) that the Scottish international was somewhat unsettled at Villa Park after his poor form under Steven Gerrard, with interest from West Ham United.
While he has since emerged as one of the Spaniard’s most-used players and, of course, captain, a departure seems very unlikely at this stage. Now, Villa fans couldn’t imagine their side without the 29-year-old, but the influence Emery’s arrival has had on the club likely had a huge sway on McGinn’s doubts.
Bracey claims that while McGinn would have likely stayed at Villa Park either way, he now is set to remain at Villa for the better part of the rest of his career.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “We were playing frustrating football under Gerrard. We weren’t getting the results and we were pushing towards relegation before Emery came in.

“He was unsettled but I don’t think there’d have been an option for him to leave. I think John McGinn probably spends the rest of his days at Villa, or at least until the latter stages of his career.
“We’ve definitely got a good few years of him left.”
