Unai Emery confirms Jaden Philogene to Hull City move as Tigers edge closer to major deal
The Tigers are on the cusp of making a big-money signing
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed Jaden Philogene’s exit from Villa Park as his move to Hull City edges closer, with the deal on the verge of being confirmed.
It’s understood the finer details of Villa’s time-sensitive buy-back clause between the 21-year-old and the Premier League club are being ironed out before final confirmation is given on a deal worth in the region of £5m, with the youngster penning a long-term contract.
Philogene, as exclusively reported by Hull Live, has passed a medical at City and was in Hull on Friday ahead of the Tigers’ game with Bristol City at the MKM Stadium, where it had been hoped the winger would be available to feature.
Villa are set to recoup some significant funds this weekend with Philogene heading to City, and Cameron Archer moving to Sheffield United for £18.5m, while Aaron Ramsey moved to Burnley for £14m.

“Cameron Archer, Aaron Ramsey, Jaden (Philogene) because they are young players, they can develop a lot in their career,” Emery is reported by The Athletic as saying.
“But we are having a very good offer for them and we are letting them to go and trying to keep under our control the possibility of them coming back because we believe in them but we know now they need to play minutes, take confidence and here maybe they are not going to have the same opportunity like they can have playing in other teams.
“We are selling them because as well for us economically it is good, but always trying to control them and follow then their progress like we think they can do. Then, of course, they are increasingly the level we are thinking, they can be again with us coming back.”
Meanwhile, Philogene’s Villa teammate Keinan Davis is understood to have been impressed after having conversations with City’s hierarchy, but also has options elsewhere in the Championship and is set to decide his future over the weekend.
