Update: The Green Bay Packers have concluded negotiations to sign a 21-year-old star offensive player.

Green Bay Packers Front Office Show Interest In Adding 21-Year-Old Star To Offense (Report)

The Green Bay Packers are suddenly squarely in the middle of the NFC playoff race.  After back to back wins against the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions, the Packers have improved to 5-6 on the year and are just one spot out of the final Wild Card spot in the NFC.  The Seattle Seahawks (6-5) and Minnesota Vikings (6-5) both sit in front of them.

The Packers committed to the future this past off-season by way of trade and deciding not to re-sign numerous free agents.  Those decisions made the Packers one of the youngest teams in the NFL.  Now, the Packers may be looking to add to that youth.

Green Bay Packers Sent ‘Multiple Scouts’ To The Ohio State – Michigan Matchup On Saturday

from The Acme Packing Company reported the news:

The Green Bay Packers sent midwest area scout Joe Hueber and director of college scouting Matt Malaspina to The Game on Saturday. Obviously, it’s not surprising that NFL teams would send scouts out to such a significant matchup, but ESPN’s Jordan Reid noted that only 13 squads sent out representation to Ohio State vs. Michigan, and only six — including the Packers — had multiple staffers in the box for the game.

If you want a rundown of the biggest prospects in the game, at least in the context of the 2024 draft class, here are the players who are ranked inside the top 100 on the consensus draft board:

#1: Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State

#19: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

#21: T.J. Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State

#24: J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan

#30: Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State#50: Kris Jenkins, DL, Michigan#54: Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State#55: Michael Hall Jr., DL, Ohio State#64: TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State#73: Blake Corum, RB, Michigan#78: Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State#81: Tyleik Williams, DL, Ohio State#84: Zak Zinter, OL, Michigan#85: Donovan Jackson, OL, Ohio State#95: Roman Wilson, WR, Michigan#100: Rod Moore, SAF, Michigan

It appears the Packers will pick an offensive tackle in the first round, according to the majority of NFL Mock Draft Database mock drafts. 32.4% of those mock drafts pick Notre Dame offensive tackle Joe Alt.

With David Bakhtiari likely to be released due to salary cap savings and health concerns, the Packers are in need of a replacement left tackle.

While that would fit the Packers’ front office’s strategy for years, Harrison would make a hard choice if he is on the board. Granted, given that the Packers have started winning a more they’ll likley need to trade up to get Harrison.  Nonetheless, the Packers continue to trend in the direction of being interested in adding a star wide receiver.  Will they finally pull the trigger?
