Updates: An insider says Ohio State is almost done with a deal involving a Texas quarterback; the decision to sign the backup quarterback for the Longhorns was made because…

Ohio State Already Linked To High-Profile Transfer Quarterback After Loss To Michigan

After Ohio State lost to Michigan for the third straight year, one thing was clear. They need an upgrade at quarterback. The good news for the team is that with the transfer portal landscape, getting new players in is easier than ever. The program is already being linked to Maalik Murphy from Texas.

Ohio State Linked To QB Maalik Murphy

Day was recruited by the Buckeyes out of high school. Ultimately he decided to go to Texas but the quarterback room is getting crowded there. Quinn Ewers is waffling on going to the NFL and may stay at school. Arch Manning is also waiting in the wings. This could make Murphy the odd man out. Fans are already clamoring for Day to try and bring Murphy in as Kyle McCord showed some promise but hasn’t looked like a top-tier quarterback.

Will Ryan Day Stay At Ohio State?

There have also been calls for Ryan Day to be removed from his position. Despite his 56-7 record, fans are upset that he cannot seem to beat the top-tier programs. Most of his wins have come via the bottom feeders of the Big Ten. However, removing a coach with that kind of winning percentage could backfire. The grass isn’t always greener. Still, losing to the Wolverines is a great way to get a one-way ticket out of Columbus.

Can The Buckeyes make an upgrade at quarterback? Whether it is Maalik Murphy or another quarterback I would expect a change for the Buckeyes in 2024.
