‘Wary’ – Lincoln caretaker boss makes Charlton warning to squad
Lincoln City caretaker boss Tom Shaw has warned his side that Charlton Athletic have threats they need to be wary of ahead of tonight’s clash at the LNER Stadium.
Shaw was placed in temporary charge after Mark Kennedy left the club following the 1-0 defeat at home to Burton.
The Imps beat Fleetwood 1-0 in Shaw’s first outing as boss.
Charlton head to Lincoln six unbeaten under new head coach Michael Appleton, who managed tonight’s hosts 143 times and took the club to a League One play off final and the EFL Trophy semi-final.
“We’re clued up on what’s coming,” Shaw told Lincoln’s YouTube channel.
“After today’s session, we feel pretty prepared and content going into it.
“We’re onto the next challenge.
“I’m sure he [Appleton] is looking forward to coming back – I’m looking forward to seeing him.
“But for a couple of hours, he is the enemy.
“They have found a way of working that has clicked. We have discussed how to stop that, but there have been massive discussions on how we can really get after them.
“They have some threats that we have to be wary about – some lads on good form.
“Hopefully we will cause them some real problems.
“We have an opportunity to blow the roof off the LNER. I know how the supporters will be – I have seen these nights under the lights.
“The efforts of the players at the weekend have earned the backing of the supporters.”
