Steve Thompson continued his unbeaten start as interim manager with a 1-1 draw against Wealdstone.
In a game which saw both teams put the other under pressure, Latics struck first, as Alex Reid ran through and tapped home early in the first-half.
But it took Wealdstone all of four minutes to respond, Bowen tucked home a sweet finish from just inside the box.
Both teams arguably had chances to win it in the second half, but neither had that clinical touch, leaving them to share the points.
The hosts had the ball in the back of the net through Tahvon Campbell after a good finish, but the lineman’s flag was raised for offside.
Campbell was involved in another attack moments later, he used his strength to move into the box, but couldn’t hit the target with his shot.
Green, who’s been in great form recently, played in a promising cross, aiming to find Reid in the box, but Wealdstone headed it behind.
Oldham’s goal did come though, and it came following a sloppy pass from the host’s defence, and quick reactions from Alex Reid.
Reid intercepted their pass, ran through and advanced towards goal with speed, shifting the ball onto his left foot, he caused the chasing defender to slip, allowing Alex to tap home.
Steve Thompson in the Oldham dugout would have been bitterly disappointed to let that lead slip just 240 seconds later.
Sam Bowen’s silky finish beat Hudson, and equaled the score going into the break.
Sutton produced a beautiful long-ball for Reid, which he ran onto and held up just outside the box, Willoughby was advancing into the box, and Alex tried to meet his run with this pass, but the Stones cleared.
Wealdstone had a really good chance to take the lead 10 minutes into the restart when so good they named him twice, Abdul Abdulmalik, was through and tried to lob Hudson who’d come to claim the ball, but he didn’t have enough power or accuracy on his shot, meaning Mat caught it easily.
Josh Lundstram entered the field, making his competitive debut for Oldham Athletic as he came on in place of Mark Shelton. James Norwood also came on, replacing Kurt Willoughby.
Latics and Stones continued to trade chances, the later had a number of shots blocked following a free-kick which was swung in, valiant defending from all in tangerine kept the ball out of the net, before clearing.
Young Will Sutton made way for Charlie Raglan with 15 to go, as Thommo looked to shore up the defence.
A looping ball presented an interesting opportunity for Green, he managed to take a touch and control the ball at the far post, but he was under pressure from two defenders as he struck the ball, meaning he failed to hit the target.
Obiero’s shot following a corner was expertly kept out by Mat Hudson, despite its power and ferocity.
Lundstram, who it’s fair to say impressed as a substitute, intercepted another sloppy Wealdstone pass and saw the ‘keeper off his line. Trying to lob Ward from the halfway line, it was perhaps a bit too audacious, as he saved it with relative ease.
A good point for Latics, to take Thommo’s tally to ten.
