West Brom teammate despite Championship win v Coventry

Grady Diangana was unhappy with Brandon Thomas-Asante squandering a chance to let the West Brom winger score his second goal against Coventry on Monday night, according to Tony Brown.

Diangana and Thomas-Asante were both on the scoresheet as the Albion beat the Sky Blues 2-0 at the CBS Arena.

However, Diangana could have doubled his tally and made the Championship victory all the more comfortable if Thomas-Asante had passed to him instead of blazing a late effort well over the crossbar.

According to Baggies legend Brown, Diangana wasn’t best pleased with his teammate.

“Brandon Thomas-Asante took too many touches there and took too much time,” Bomber Brown said on BBC Radio WM on Monday night (31 October), as quoted on the BBC Sportwebsite at 09:38pm.

“I don’t think Grady Diangana is too happy – he could have played him in there, but there was only one thing on his mind.

“He’s looked sharp but in the end he made a mess of it.”

He’s hungry

Diangana is in the best form he’s been in for a long time at West Brom.

The former West Ham winger has scored in each of his last two Championship appearances for the Black Country club and he also managed to assist John Swift’s goal at Birmingham four games ago.

Even away from his direct involvement in goals, Diangana is showing why the club signed him permanently from the Hammers three years ago.

He’s really hungry at the moment and is showing that in his performances and also his behaviour because he had every right to be annoyed by BTA’s miss late on against Coventry – even if the game was already as good as won.

The 25-year-old DR Congo ace is one of the best players in the Championship on his day but we’ve seen that day all too rarely in the last three years.

Finally, he’s in good form and hopefully it can stay that way in the coming weeks.

Diangana’s biggest worry will be his fitness and with the weather getting colder and the fixture list getting more congested, that’ll be something on Carlos Corberan’s mind too.

In other West Brom news, this senior ace proved his worth for the Baggies with a phenomenal display against Coventry.
