New York Yankees Linked To Pitcher in Proposed Black Friday Signing
When it comes to Black Friday, everyone is looking for a deal. But some are more willing to spend money than others.
The New York Yankees always seem willing to spend money, and even on a day that’s about getting the best deal, sometimes the best deal is the one that still costs what you were willing to spend in the first place.
The Athletic put together a “Black Friday” deal for each MLB team for free agency, the idea being which MLB team could make a deal to improve itself for the 2024 season.
The site selection is a familiar one to Yankees fans — sign Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto:
The Big Apple bidding war for Yamamoto could be fierce, as both New York clubs (and the Red Sox) make sense as a destination. He has been an ace in Japan, winning Nippon Professional Baseball’s
Sawamura Award, the equivalent of the Cy Young, in 2021 and 2022. The Yankees expect to contend in 2024 and the rotation could use some upgrades. Even if the early returns on last year’s deal for Carlos Rodón look shaky, the franchise can afford to spend again. They are, after all, the Yankees.
