‘Hard to handle’ – Tim Walter lays down firm challenge to Hull City man

The City academy graduate could have a key part to play in the remaining weeks of the season

Hull City boss Tim Walter has challenged Will Jarvis to grasp the opportunity to force his way into his Championship team, given the flurry of injuries.

Jarvis, who was recalled from a successful spell at Shelbourne in the summer, has played just 154 minutes of action across six appearances so far this season, having found himself behind Liam Millar, Mohamed Belloumi and Abu Kamara in the pecking order after their summer arrivals.

The 21-year-old is now back in the fold under Walter, with Millar and Belloumi sidelined for the season with ACL injuries, while Kamara is easing his way back to fitness after missing the last two games with a foot injury he picked up against former club Portsmouth, he, along with Ryan Longman and Doguan Sinik could have a key role to play in the coming weeks in helping to fill the fairly sizeable void left by the two stricken stars.

Jarvis, though, was left out of Walter’s squad for the 2-1 defeat to West Brom last Sunday with Walter admitting he feels the York-born winger is difficult to handle.

“He has unbelievable potential,” Walter said when asked by Hull Live how he can get the best out of him. “He’s a player with really good potential. I was talking about him with Rich (Naylor) from the academy, and he was saying that we’d had him for a long time since he was 12 years of age.

“Sometimes I try to hug him, sometimes I try to shout at him. Sometimes I try to let him on the left side, and sometimes it’s like, ‘Come on, let’s go together’. It doesn’t matter what you are doing; at the moment, it’s really hard to handle him because he’s really a good player, and hopefully, we can get him (to the level).
