The 31-year-old immediately became the youngest permanent manager the Premier League has seen and subsequently there will have been plenty waiting for him to fall flat on his face.

So far, reality has been very far from that and the German has been impressing Brighton fans and many beyond the club.

Naturally, he’s been getting a lot of attention in the German media too. There’s a lot of pride at such a young coach moving to the Premier League and doing so well, but now there’s also admiring eyes.

Bayer Leverkusen are already fretting about potentially losing Xabi Alonso next summer. He decided to stick with the club after winning the Bundesliga title but he’s still thought to have itchy feet even if the Spaniard insists he won’t make a decision on his future until March.

They don’t add much to that, and it would obviously be very difficult to get Hürzeler from Brighton should he continue as he’s started.
