Amad Diallo set for “prominent” role under Ruben Amorim, who has “taken a liking” to him
Manchester United forward Amad Diallo is reportedly set for a big role in the team under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who is a big fan of the player.
Amad started the season as a starter but in the latter weeks of Erik ten Hag’s troubled tenure, he dubiously lost his place, as the now-sacked Dutchman demonstrated a clear preference for other wide options.
There was a clamour from some sections of the fanbase for Amad to be awarded more minutes but playing time under Ten Hag proved elusive. Interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy handed Amad a rare start in the Europa League clash vs. PAOK FC and the Ivorian didn’t disappoint. He scored both of United’s goals as the side cruised to a 2-0 victory – their first in the competition this term.
Amad was named in the starting XI for the subsequent game vs. Leicester City in the Premier League and he was brilliant once again, the highlight of which was a world-class backheel assist for Bruno Fernandes’ opening strike.
As Amorim took charge of his first training session at Carrington on Monday, Amad appeared in club-released footage to be in one of the attacking roles of a 3-4-3 formation.
GIVEMESPORT reveal that Amad is one of the players who have stood out in Amorim’s eyes and the former Atalanta man could be set for a start on Sunday against Ipswich Town when the Portuguese coach selects his maiden XI.
The news outlet relays that Amad could be set for “an early boost” under the new United head coach.
“Sources have begun to suggest to GMS that Amorim is getting a good insight into the squad and that he has already taken a liking to one of the club’s brightest talents, Diallo.”
“Amorim has been impressed with the winger during his early days. Insiders close to the club suggest there’s a strong chance the “incredible” Diallo will feature prominently in Amorim’s system, with a starting spot on Sunday looking plausible.”
“Known for his tactical flexibility and attacking philosophy, the Portuguese manager is reportedly excited by Diallo’s technical ability, work off the ball, and creativity in the final third – traits that could make him a key player in the new setup.”
