Phil Parkinson left frustrated as Wrexham suffer major training disruption before Exeter City clash
Wrexham are set to take on Exeter City in a League One clash on Saturday, November 23rd.
The Red Dragons are looking to get their 2024/25 back on track when they host Exeter City at the Racecourse Ground this week.
Wrexham fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of old rivals Stockport County last weekend, denting their automatic promotion hopes.
Phil Parkinson’s men have now won just two of their last five League One fixtures, slipping down to third as a result.
To make matters worse, second-place Birmingham City have two games in hand on the Welsh outfit, while league leaders Wycombe Wanderers have one.
As a result, a win against Exeter this weekend is a must. But that is going to be easier said than done, especially given the disruption Wrexham have faced this week.
Phil Parkinson frustrated ahead of Wrexham vs Exeter City
Exeter are ninth in the League One table right now and like Wrexham, have won two of their last five.
However, a close game is still expected given The Grecians are only five points adrift of the Hollywood-owned club with a game in hand.
To make matters worse for Wrexham, Parkinson has now confirmed, as per Leader Live, that his players have been unable to train properly in the build-up to the game due to the snow.
He said: “It’s a bit frustrating. Obviously the grass is out of use at the moment and even the 4G pitch has been out of use at Colliers Park so we struggled yesterday.
“The weather is supposed to improve towards the end of the week so hopefully we will be back on the grass preparing for the game.”
Parkinson said in the same interview: “We have even called Lilleshall and we have called St George’s Park, just determined to get the lads on a bit of grass if we can but at the moment everyone seems to be in the same boat.
“We will travel to get somewhere to train but sometimes things are a bit out of your control with the amount of snow we had.
“We probably didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was and sometimes the 4G can get cleared but we haven’t been able to do that.
“We want to get a decent week with the lads but we will find a way and make sure that by Saturday, we are prepared well.”
The weather in Exeter this week has not been as bad, meaning their players should have largely had an unerupted week of training.
This may give them an unwelcome edge when they travel to the Racecourse on Saturday afternoon.
