Cardiff have lost their last two going into this weekend but were unbeaten in six beforehand.

Last time the two teams met, Sheffield Wednesday hammered Cardiff City 4-0 in the FA Cup. But the Bluebirds won both their league fixtures against Wednesday last season, both by 2-1 scorelines.

Rohl said in his pre-Cardiff City presser: “A lot of players back from injuries. Apart from Akin and Olaf, everyone is back.”

Nathaniel Chalobah looks poised to debut for Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, or at least feature on the bench after returning to training following a muscle injury.

Cardiff City meanwhile look set to be without four first-team players in Kion Etete, Joe Ralls, Ryotaro Tsunoda, and Aaron Ramsey.

With the Owls looking like they have an almost fully-fit squad, with the returns of Ihiekwe and Chalobah being huge boosts for Rohl, Cardiff City could be fearing a long afternoon at Hillsborough on Saturday.

That’s especially true with the likes of Ramsey and Ralls sidelined for the Bluebirds, who’ve now lost their last two in the Championship.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, EFL pundit Sam Parkin predicted a Sheffield Wednesday win against Cardiff City this weekend.

Parkin predicted a 2-0 Owls win, saying: “I’ve just got a feeling that the choppy waters may appear a little bit, for Cardiff, after that brilliant run.

“I wasn’t too impressed with them at Luton and the results, obviously, have plateaued. So I think a repeat of what Sheffield Wednesday did against Norwich is here.”

The game kicks off at 12:30pm on Saturday afternoon.
