Former Coventry City boss Mark Robins linked with Leicester City vacancy

Coventry City manager news from CoventryLive as sacked Sky Blues boss Mark Robins in the latest betting odds as local rivals Leicester City search for new manager

Mark Robins is among the names of managers being linked with the newly vacant Leicester City job following Sunday’s sacking of Steve Cooper.

Former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter is the bookies’ early favourite, but former Sky Blues manager Robins is, according to SkyBet fifth in the pecking order at 16/1, ahead of England Under-21 coach Lee Carsley and Jose Mourinho. David Moyes, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Carlos Corberan are all ahead of Robins in the betting.

Many Coventry fans will be happy to see there’s no mention of Frank Lampard at this stage – the former Derby, Chelsea and Everton boss widely reported to be taking over at the CBS Arena, albeit no official confirmation has been forthcoming. Interim coach Rhys Carr is understood to be preparing the team for Tuesday night’s trip to Burnley, which would be his third game in charge since Robins’ dismissal.

Robins – who had three years at Leicester as a player in the mid-90s – revealed last week that he’s keen to get back to work fairly soon, although it would be seen as a big jump to join the Foxes having never managed in the Premier League, with an upwardly mobile Championship club a more realistic next destination for the 54-year-old, who was sacked by Coventry owner Doug King on November 7.

Potter is favourite for the King Power hotseat after Leicester parted company with Cooper after just 12 Premier League games in charge. The decision, announced on Sunday afternoon, follows the 2-1 home defeat to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes are currently in 16th place after almost a third of the way through the season, two points above the drop zone after 18th placed Crystal Palace secured a point at Aston Villa on Saturday. Leicester under Cooper beat Bournemouth and, dramatically, Southampton, but they took just a point from the four games following.
