End: Luleå Hockey held off in the derby thriller against Skellefteå AIK
The heel fight. It was full speed right from the start of the match. The home team had time to warm up a bit before Lulefans appeared, but after that it was pretty even beard. The feeling was, however, that there was a slightly higher decibel in Luleå Hockey’s entourage. The away team won the game in the end much better than the team did on the ice.
The cold shower. In terms of play, the first period went to Skellefteå – but in terms of goals to Luleå. With less than a minute left in the first period, Brendan Shinnimin tricked everyone except Eetu Koivistoinen who was parked at the high post and there Shinnimin sent the puck whereupon the Finn scored perhaps the easiest goal of his career, but none the less important.
The transformation. Those who watched the game last Saturday when Luleå Hockey lost against Leksand probably scratched their heads during Tuesday’s game. Because all of a sudden there was a fight for every loose puck and full speed every time Luleå Hockey got the puck and then it didn’t matter which fifth was on the ice.
3* Matthew Ward. During the first period, it was Ward who sometimes saved Luleå Hockey. Of course the shots were 13-13, but it was Skellefteå that created the hottest chances. Ward also had his best friends (the posts) in the match.
2* Brendan Shinnimin . He continues to be annoying enough, but above all, he continues to deliver dazzling performances. Luleå’s lead goal in the first period was a unique display of hockey art at a high level. Another thing that is unquestionable is that when Brendan is on the ice, there is an abundance of emotion in both him and the opponents who in turn benefit from the fact that the Canadian is not quite as easily sent off as against him.
1* Mattias Bromé. Two goals in an away derby is nothing short of impressive. Add to that all the hard work he puts in on the ice. Bromé is nothing more than a successful acquisition.
