Thomas Frank reveals Brentford injury blow before Aston Villa trip
Aston Villa will look to bounce back from their 3-0 loss to Chelsea when they take on the Bees at Villa Park on Wednesday
Brentford boss Thomas Frank is keeping his fingers crossed for good news about the injury that forced Mathias Jensen out of Saturday’s win over Leicester.
The Denmark international, who was sidelined for almost two months earlier this season with a calf problem, hobbled off just before half-time in the 4-1 win at the Gtech Community Stadium and will undergo tests on Sunday.
“It was his [left] hamstring,” Frank, whose side travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday, said. “We need to assess him tomorrow (Sunday) but it was more precautionary. I hope he will be OK but we need to see.”
Brentford’s win lifted them up to seventh in the Premier League, three points behind Brighton in third, but they had to come from behind against the Foxes after Facundo Buonanotte tapped in a 21st-minute opener.
Yoane Wissa levelled soon after with his eighth goal of the season before Kevin Schade took centre stage with a hat-trick to inflict more misery on their struggling opponents.
Brentford have now scored 26 goals in 13 league matches this season, which is one of the best records in the division and an achievement Frank is very pleased with.
He said: “It’s very positive and I’m very happy, it’s something we’ve been working on.
“Those who’ve followed us in the Championship, the two years before the play-off finals we scored the most goals in the Championship so it’s always been the aim to be offensive and positive, and after four years in the Premier League I don’t think we’ve been good at scoring goals but this year we’re on another level and have more or less all our offensive players available.”
