Dodgers' IL-bound Max Muncy says elbow not excuse for slow start - Los Angeles Times

Fresh off winning the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked to St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado in trade rumors. Arenado, whose contract allows him to veto any trade, has reportedly agreed to allow the Cardinals to explore possible trades before what’s expected to be a rebuilding year in St. Louis. This isn’t the first offseason the Southern California native has been connected to Los Angeles in trade rumors. Arenado signed a nine-year, $375 million contract extension with the Colorado Rockies in 2016 and was traded to St. Louis in Feb. 2021. Before that — and even afterward — there was speculation Arenado would like to play for a winning organization closer to home than Denver or St. Louis.

That speculation only accelerated when Arenado posted a series of photos to his Instagram account Sunday along with the song “dodger blue” by Kendrick Lamar. He’s even reportedly willing to switch positions to accommodate a trade to a team expected to contend in 2025.In Los Angeles, Arenado would be blocked at first base by Freddie Freeman. Third baseman Max Muncy has played first base and second base in the past, but has been a vital part of the team’s success the last seven seasons, collecting two World Series rings. In an appearance on Foul Territory Wednesday, Muncy said he’s open to moving positions to accommodate a trade for Arenado. I’ve never been one that said, ‘no I’m not going to play this position, not going to play that position, not going to bat in this spot in the order.’ I don’t care.
