Northampton Town are interested in Macclesfield manager Robbie Savage, according to a report by Football Insider.
Northampton Town are in the hunt for a new boss following Jon Brady’s resignation. They are currently sat in the League One relegation zone along with Shrewsbury Town, Burton Albion and Cambridge United.
Savage, 50, became Macclesfield’s number one in the summer after their loss in the play-off final to Marine last season. The Silkmen are now currently sat top of the Northern Premier League table as they eye promotion to the National League North.
However, in this latest update regarding the Cobblers’ managerial situation, Football Insider claim they are admirers of the former Premier League player as they weigh up their options.
They have placed Ian Sampson in caretaker charge until a successor for Brady is sounded out. Next up is a home clash on Monday against Peterborough United as they look to rise out of the bottom four.

As a player, Savage played at the top level for the likes of Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Derby County.
The former Wales international, who made 39 caps for his country, played over 600 games before hanging up his boots.
He was involved with Stockport Town before he joined Macclesfield’s board following Rob Smethurst’s takeover in 2020.
Savage later became Director of Football of the Cheshire outfit before he became their head coach in mid-June.
His side are now 15 points clear at the summit as they prepare for their FA Trophy away trip to rivals Altrincham this weekend.
