Wolves v Man United early injury news as 8 out and 2 doubts
Wolves play their first home game under Vitor Pereira as they host Manchester United in the Premier League.
The Portuguese boss masterminded a 3-0 win over Leicester City in his first game in charge which moved them up to 18th. Wolves may find themselves in the bottom three but can move out of it with a win.
Man United were on the receiving end of a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday. The result put them in 13th and are a whole six points off of a European spot.
Here’s the latest injury and team news prior to kick-off.
Wolves team news
Rayan Ait-Nouri is once again available for selection after serving a one game ban following his red card against Ipswich Town. He is on a tightrope however as he has accumulated four yellows cards this season and will have to avoid getting carded in the next two games.
Ait-Nouri isn’t the only player that is danger of a ban as both Toti Gomes and Mario Lemina are also on bookings apiece. Lemina was not a part of the match day squad against Leicester City, but that was down to a calf issue which was described as a small knock.
Yerson Mosquera suffered an ACL and MCL injury in September and is out for the remainder of the campaign. Enso Gonzalez suffered an ACL injury at the Olympic Games and is making progress having recently shared a video of himself training on social media.
Sasa Kalajdzic suffered a knee injury in February whilst on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt. In November, former manager Gary O’Neil said that the Austrian would be back training in three or four weeks.
Boubacar Traore had to undergo surgery on his knee and it was said in September he would be out until around Christmas. Before GON’s sacking, he said that Traore would be back at the end of December, either training or being involved in the squads.
Pablo Sarabia has missed the last four games for Wolves. It was reported that he had a calf injury.
Out: Yerson Mosquera, Enso Gonzalez, Sasa Kalajdzic, Boubacar Traore, and Pablo Sarabia. Doubt: Mario Lemina.
Man United team news
Matthijs de Ligt missed the game against Bournemouth due to illness, the second game in succession after missing the Carabao Cup defeat to Spurs.
Mason Mount is sidelined with a thigh injury and is not expected to play for the remainder of the year. The former Chelsea midfielder suffered the problem during the Manchester Derby and according to talkSPORT is set for another ‘lengthy’ injury absence, which could rule him out until March.
Victor Lindelof is set to miss out too, having only lasted a half against Spurs last week. Ruben Amorim didn’t give too much away on the Swedish centre-back’s status, but believed that he would need to undergo a medical assessment to get to the bottom of his problem.
At the start of the December, Luke Shaw revealed that he had a ‘small’ injury setback. He’s been limited to three appearances this season, and was left ‘devastated’ after picking up a muscular injury.
