Jamal Agnew Injury News: Jaguars WR Set To Miss Rest Of The Season With Lower Leg Fracture

The Jacksonville Jaguar’s standout returner and wide receiver Agnew after returning for three games is done for the rest of the season.

Following Sunday’s win over the Panthers, Agnew suffered the injury on a 48-yard catch, the biggest play of the day for the Jaguars’ offense.

The star returner had a 48-yard catch on Sunday, the third-biggest play the Jaguars have had in the last three weeks, while his 65-yard touchdown catch vs. the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15 was the longest.

The WR won’t be part of the Jaguars’ effort to win the AFC South in Week 18, but could potentially be getting their starting quarterback. The 21-day practice window for receiver Christian Kirk to return from injured reserve on Wednesday opened the possibility that he could play as soon as Sunday.

During a Monday press conference, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Agnew will not play in Week 18 or any of the team’s potential playoff games as a result of the injury.

Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor said earlier this year, to highlight his crucial presence in the lineup,

“Obviously, he’s a dynamic ball carrier. We’ve all seen that as a punt returner, he’s done that at times for us in the two years here as a ball carrier for us in the offense.”

Agnew had performed on offense in Kirk’s absence over the past three games, catching five passes for 135 yards and a touchdown, while averaging 24.6 yards on eight kickoff returns.
