Hull City poised to bring in 40-year-old to bolster backroom staff

Hull City are expected to bring in Julian Hübner as part of Tim Walter’s coaching staff, as detailed in a report by HullLive.

Hull City are currently working on a deal to lure Walter to England and hope to get it over the line at the start of June. They decided to part ways with Liam Rosenior at the end of last season after they missed out on the Championship play-offs.

First-team coach Andy Dawson is also poised to stay put at the MKM Stadium. The club’s former left-back had a spell in caretaker charge in 2022.

HullLive report Hübner, 40, is set to link up with Walter again after working with him at Hamburg. He holds a UEFA A License.

The Tigers finished 7th in the last campaign and were three points off the top six in the end as they eye another promotion push next term.

Hull City poised to bolster backroom staff

Walter will be keen on bringing in his own staff to Hull City and Hübner appears to be a valuable member of his team.

Keeping Dawson would be a shrewd move by the German though. He played for the club and used to work in the youth set-up too so is a useful person to around.

Hübner worked at TB Jahn Zeiskam before joining Karlsruher as the assistant manager of their Under-19’s, which is where he first crossed paths with Walter.

He also had a spell with the Under-17’s before working his way up to youth manager in 2016 in a position that he held for three years.

Walter then brought him to Hamburg as his number two in 2021 and he spent just under three years with the Bundelsiga.2 side.

They guided the German giants to the play-offs twice but they were denied promotion to the Bundesliga on both occasions after losing to Stuttgart and Hertha Berlin respectively.

Hull City managerial hunt

Hull City will want their managerial situation sorted as soon as possible to give Walter and Hübner plenty of time to prepare for the new campaign.

Promotion is the aim for the Tigers and they have a lot of work to do on the transfer front as they look to add more quality to their ranks.

The likes of Liam Delap, Anass Zaroury, Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho have returned to their parent clubs following their loans.
