Alabama football officially announces Courtney Morgan as general manager
Alabama football made another hire official on Friday. Courtney Morgan was named the Crimson Tide’s general manager, a move that’s been known since he followed new head coach Kalen DeBoer off the plane at Tuscaloosa National Airport on the day UA hired Nick Saban’s replacement.
Morgan had served in the same role under DeBoer at Washington.
“I love working for Coach DeBoer and I am looking forward to continuing the standard that Alabama football has set,” Morgan said in a release from UA athletics announcing his hiring. “Everyone on this staff has the same common goal, and we believe in Coach DeBoer’s process of what it takes to win. Trust and hard work are such an important part of success and I’m always ready to go to work and I completely trust Coach DeBoer’s approach to building a program.”
According to the release, Morgan will be in charge of managing the roster, plus day-to-day operations of the recruiting and personnel departments. He’ll help organize DeBoer’s film evaluations and prospect communications, organize transfer portal evaluations and supervise internal brand management.
Morgan, who played his college football at Michigan, spent the 2021 season working for the Wolverines before joining DeBoer’s Washington staff. He first worked for DeBoer at Fresno State.
“Courtney is such an important part of our program,” DeBoer said in the release. “He has great relationships across the country and is an essential part of helping us recruit and evaluate talent both at the high school level and in the transfer portal. Courtney is an important pillar in what we are trying to accomplish at Alabama, and I am very excited to be able to bring him to Tuscaloosa.”
