While the teenage duo have huge potential and they can surely help them in the long run, neither of them is expected to be a regular starter in the 2024/25 season. With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Spurs are considering making a move for another midfield star.
According to a report from GMS, Tottenham are considering making a late bid for the services of Joao Gomes. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has already left the club while Rodrigo Bentancur picked up a head injury in their opening game of the season at the King Power Stadium. As a result, Ange Postecoglou is looking to bring in a cover and he feels the 23-year-old Wolves star could be an ideal fit for them.
Gomes joined the English club at the start of 2023 and he hasn’t looked back since. So far, he has featured in a total of 50 matches and has been a standout performer for them. His ability to feature in a defensive role as well as a touch higher up the pitch is what attracts interest from Spurs.
The North London club have been linked with the Brazilian international for a while now and they are finally looking to formalise their interest. They are plotting a late swoop to sign him before the end of the deadline day.
While Wolves are reluctant to sell, a bid of around £50 million will surely make them think twice. Spurs have the finances to make it happen but they could face competition from rival clubs Manchester United and Liverpool who have also been linked to the youngster.
