The 2023/24 season was a magnificent one for Ipswich, as they held their own among sides like Leicester City, Leeds United, and Southampton and secured not only promotion but automatic promotion.

The club is now preparing for top-flight football for the first time in 22 years, so it is expected to be a big summer of activity at Portman Road.

As we wait to see what unfolds here at Football League World, we have looked at certain things that, if they happened, Kieran McKenna would be delighted…

A player who played a big part in Ipswich Town’s success this season was winger Omari Hutchinson.

The Tractor Boys signed the 20-year-old on a season-long loan deal back in the summer, a decision that has turned out to be a magnificent one, as Hutchinson was different class in the second tier.

The winger played 44 times in the league, during which he scored an impressive 10 goals and chipped in with six assists.

He became a key player in Ipswich’s attack, and despite him being a Chelsea player, Kieran McKenna would surely love to be able to re-sign the player for their Premier League campaign.

It has been reported by TEAMtalk, that Ipswich are planning to approach Chelsea in a bid to sign Hutchinson on a permanent basis. But the report states that the Blues are looking to offer him a new contract, so it could be that another loan deal is possible.

McKenna would obviously love to have the player at Portman Road on a permanent basis, but if that can’t happen, he would surely still be delighted with him re-joining on a loan deal.

Ipswich beat Leicester City to sign Eddie Nketiah

As well as Ipswich and McKenna wanting to sign Omari Hutchinson this summer, it seems the club is looking into a deal for Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.

Nketiah has been with the Gunners for some time now but has yet to fully break into the starting XI.

It was reported last week that Ipswich and Leicester City are interested in signing the striker this summer.

They have now been given a boost, as The Standard has reported that Arsenal are willing to sell Nketiah this summer to raise funds of their own.

Therefore, that is giving the green light to teams like Ipswich who are interested in the player; it is just now about them agreeing a deal with the club and the player.

Signing someone like Nketiah would surely delight McKenna, as he would be adding a player full of Premier League experience to his side as well as a goalscorer.

The Tractor Boys are probably going to be linked with several players throughout the summer, but if they could get a deal over the line for Nketiah, that would surely excite the Ipswich boss as well as please him, as his attacking options would be severely improved.
