Opinion: Hull City should swoop for Leeds United man this summer, player free to leave

Hull City have the chance to bolster their ranks this summer as Liam Rosenior looks to continue the impressive job he is doing at the MKM Stadium.

Hull City will have a vacancy to fill at right-back with Cyrus Christie’s contract up at the end of the season.

The Republic of Ireland international has had his injury problems recently and it would be a surprise to see him stay on in East Yorkshire.

The Tigers looked at signing Cody Drameh from Leeds United before his loan switch to Birmingham City last summer, according to The Athletic reporter Phil Hay, and they should rekindle their interest.

Hull City should look at Leeds United man

Drameh has played his last game for parent club Leeds, according to Football Insider. His contract at Elland Road is up at the end of June and he is due to become a free agent.

Birmingham’s chances of landing him permanently depend on what league they are in next term. The Blues are fighting relegation and are only above the drop zone on goal difference.

The right wing-back spent the second-half of the last campaign with Luton Town and helped the Hatters gain promotion to the Premier League under Rob Edwards before returning to his parent club.

He joined the Whites in 2020 from Fulham and has since played 10 times for their first-team.

The ex-England youth international has also had a temporary spell away at Cardiff City and was teammates with Hull star Jaden Philogene during his time in Wales

Drameh would be a shrewd addition, especially on a free transfer, and fits the bill for Rosenior’s side. He is young, has potential to develop and knows what it takes to get out of the Championship.

The Londoner also likes to get forward and would offer a threat down the right flank, along with Ryan Giles on the other side.

He would be ideal competition for skipper Lewie Coyle, regardless of what division the Tigers find themselves in, and getting should be a no-brainer.
