The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has suggested the Tractor Boys could look to sign the 23-year-old as the transfer window progresses.

As reported by BBC Sport (3 July), Genoa were unable to reach a cut-price agreement to sign Spence from Tottenham.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes other clubs might now step forward.

“Spence has returned for pre-season training, and it looks like a move to Genoa has stalled,” Wenham said.

“I still think he will leave, and I suspect that some Premier League interest might emerge. The likes of Ipswich Town could perhaps look to move for him if they are to miss out on other targets.

“And there could be several other sides which come forward too.”

He would no doubt be second choice to Pedro Porro. And following the arrival of the versatile Archie Gray, he might now be third in the pecking order at right-back.

As a result, he will likely be keen to move on permanently in search of regular first-team football.

And if a club like Ipswich were to step forward, that could be exactly what he ends up getting.

Djed Spence has been linked with a move away from Tottenham

Spence has never really been offered an opportunity in North London and he is likely to feel frustrated about how things have gone.

However, it doesn’t look as though sticking around will do anyone any good. Therefore, a permanent solution must be found.

In other Tottenham news, the club missed out on some extra cash after a multi-million transfer was finalised.
