Parkinson’s side will host Wycombe Wanderers at the Racecourse on the opening day of the 2024/25 League One season.

Before Wrexham kick off their campaign they will be looking to add some quality signings to the dressing room.

The North Wales club made a strong start to the window with the statement signing of goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo on a three-year deal.

The former Sunderland manager was keen on securing Okonkwo’s signature on a permanent contract. The signing was a statement by the club about their intentions this summer, with various other clubs losing out on this transfer.

The 56-year-old coach will be looking for signings of similar quality in preparation for the toughest season yet, with clubs like Birmingham City, Bolton Wanderers, and Rotherham United all posing a difficult challenge ahead.

The former Bradford City coach has expressed his joy about the Okonkwo deal and the focus on potential incomings.

Speaking to the Leader, Parkinson said: “Arthur was a player in all the staffs mind that we really wanted to get on board as soon as the season finished because he is a really good goalkeeper,

“It is a key signing for us and we are pleased to get it done. It’s taken a bit of time but as I’ve said before, sometimes signings do for a variety of reasons.

“But we were able to secure the signature and I was pleased to get it done before pre-season starts. There were offers for him to go to a higher level but I think Arthur’s experience here was a very positive one.

“I am sure supporters will be excited about the signing and hopefully there will be a few more key additions before the season starts.
