Manchester United interested in Leeds United goalkeeper

Leeds United player set to complete permanent exit on Sunday after three years at Elland Road

Leeds United have been busy getting their ducks in a row and offloading players before bringing in any new signings this summer and another is set to leave on a permanent basis, today.

We have already seen Marc Roca turn his loan at Real Betis into a permanent move for around £4m. Archie Gray was the one big sale the club needed to make, joining Tottenham in a deal worth £40m.

The move to Spurs allowed Leeds to negotiate a permanent return for Joe Rodon, costing a quarter of the fee that saw Gray move the other way. Jamie Shackleton has left on a free, joining Sheffield United.

Diego Llorente is expected to join Roca at Betis, while Charlie Cresswell’s move to Toulouse is back on. Junior Firpo’s contract is due to end in 12 months and is ‘expected’ to leave the club before the deadline.

Even Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford have clubs chasing them. But today, there is expected to be another permanent exit in the form of 23-year-old goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson, after three years at Elland Road.

The Norwegian goalkeeper joined Leeds back in the summer of 2021 for £1m and has managed just four appearances since. Last term, he played three times as the club’s third-choice option under Daniel Farke.

Reports emerged on Saturday that Klaesson is off to Poland

Having spent the season behind Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow, Klaesson will have come to realise that even after relegation from the Premier League, he is not going to become the club’s first-choice stopper.

Indeed, Adam Pope reported that Klaesson was closing in on a permanent move to Polish side Raków Częstochowa. Now, Norwegian site Nettavisen saw that Klaesson’s exit should be announced on Sunday.
