Aston Villa and Wolves receive injury boost as Liverpool star ruled out for rest of the season
Aston Villa have been handed a major boost in their quest to secure European football at the end of the Premier League season – one of Liverpool’s most promising youngsters, Bobby Clark, has seen his season come to an end after suffering an injury.
The Reds are due to play both Villa and Wolves in the coming weeks. They’ll take on Villa on Monday, May 13, while they will play Wolves on the final day of the season on May 19.
As things stand, Villa are fourth in the Premier League table with 67 points. This puts them seven points ahead of the team in fifth, Tottenham Hotspur – the Lilywhites’ abysmal form in recent weeks suggests that the Villans should be able to hang onto their top four spot, even with Spurs having two games in hand over them.
Wolves, meanwhile, are 11th – they have nothing left to play for this season, as they are well above the relegation zone but are also a far cry from the top seven. There is still a possibility they could sneak into seventh place, with just seven points separating them and Newcastle United – but despite this, the Toon have a game in hand and Wolves would need to win all three of their remaining games to take their position.
Clark has made five Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season – however, he has been at his best in cup competitions. He has scored a goal and registered an assist in two Europa League games and he also notched up an assist in the FA Cup. Additionally, he also mustered a goal in the EFL Trophy for Liverpool U21s.
In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Clark wrote: “Unfortunately my season has came to an end early due to injury, time to focus on getting back fit for the new season.”
