Doug Pederson presser: Positive injury news for Jacksonville Jaguars - Big Cat Country

PRO BOWL SENSATIONAL WR SET TO LAND A DEAL WITH THE JAGS WAS OFFICIALLY AGREED

After spending a year out of the NFL, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry is making an attempt to resurrect his football career. Landry is currently at the Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie minicamp in hopes of convincing the franchise to offer him a deal.

Landry last played in the NFL in 2022, spending the season with the New Orleans Saints. He played in nine games, catching a career-low 25 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Landry said that he doesn’t want to end his career on a such disappointing note.

“The competitor in me says no,” Landry said. “But again, whatever. Whatever’s in God’s hands, in his cards, I just kind of rock with that.”

Landry explained that he was hampered by an ankle injury in 2022 and purposely sat out the last season in order to get fully healthy.

“I’ve got some cleanup things to do obviously, but for the most part I felt pretty good,” he added. “Caught the ball well, so I feel good.”

Jarvis Landry entered the league in 2014 as a second-round pick by the Miami Dolphins and quickly established himself as one of the most reliable wideouts in the league. Landry spent four years in Miami and earned three Pro Bowl nods before being traded to the Cleveland Browns. He had a four-year stint with the Browns as well, earning two Pro Bowl selections while in Cleveland.

Landry has 713 career receptions for 7,870 yards and 38 touchdowns as a pro.

Having made five Pro Bowls during his NFL career, Jarvis Landry knows a thing or two about playing wide receiver at the highest level. The veteran wideout is currently trying out for the Jacksonville Jaguars and one thing that stood out to him was how impressive rookie Brian Thomas Jr. is.

It only took Landry one day to give Thomas the best possible compliment, “Elite,” Landry said when he met with the local media at rookie minicamp. “Watching him out here, seeing it firsthand in person. I’ve seen it on TV a couple times. We’re seeing it firsthand, he’s elite.”

Landry goes on to say that he’s willing to mentor his rookie counterpart if he reaches out to him.

“Absolutely, whether I’m here or not here, whatever it is, he has my number. He has my number, I’m like they were all guys I ran into him yesterday. We had great conversation, it’s really it’s part of the culture. It’s how you keep the culture clean and good. And that’s what I’m gonna do,” Landry said.

During his exchange with the media, Landry also touched on why he chose to work out for the Jags. He notes that he had other opportunities but feels like Jacksonville is a team on the rise.
