Enzo Maresca wants Pep Guardiola talks as Leicester City hatch Man City transfer plan
Latest Leicester City news from LeicestershireLive as the Foxes are said to want to sign Callum Doyle from Manchester City permanently
Leicester City are said to want to sign Callum Doyle from Manchester City permanently.
The 20-year-old defender is currently on loan with the Foxes from the Premier League champions. He arrived at the King Power Stadium in the summer on a season-long loan deal.
The youngster has endured an injury-hit campaign with Leicester being sidelined for around three months after undergoing knee surgery in September. He returned to action as a substitute in the 4-1 league win against Huddersfield on home soil on New Year’s Day and started the 3-2 FA Cup victory against Millwall on January 6.
City boss Enzo Maresca is now understood to be keen to strike a deal with his former club to keep Doyle at Leicester on a permanent basis, according to The Athletic.
Speaking about the player this week, Maresca said: “We said since his injury that for us it was a big loss in terms of the way we want to play, the build-up, the switch of play from his side to the other side, the balls in behind. That’s exactly what he offers.
“In general, he’s a very important player for us. He’s back, we’re happy.”
