Coventry City match reaction from CoventryLive as Mark Robins calls for the FA to look at an incident that left Jamie Allen with a fractured cheekbone

Mark Robins has called on the FA to look at a late incident that left Coventry City’s Jamie Allen with a fractured cheekbone in the 4-1 FA Cup fourth round replay against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sky Blues boss claims the Owls’ defender Di’Shon Bernard “left a shoulder in” on the midfielder in what he’s alleged was a “deliberate” act which could rule the player out for the rest of the season.

“The only sour note on the night was that Di’Shon Bernard has left a shoulder in on Jamie Allen’s face and fractured his cheekbone, so that’s not ideal and they really need to look at that. The FA need to look at that because it was a bit unsavoury, to say the least.

“He’s got a depressed fracture so I am hoping he is not going to have to have surgery. But he has a depressed fracture and he may need surgery. We’ll see.”

He added: “I have been in to see the referee because it was naughty. They were leaving things in on us a little bit too much, but the referee didn’t see it, or he thought it was innocuous at the time. But obviously it was, yeah, it was deliberate and it was a bit unsavoury, to say the least.

“He’s gone to hospital in an ambulance. It’s not the time out that I am worried about at the minute, it’s his well being. And I am hoping that he’s OK because he was dazed. And you can see the fracture, which was a real depression in his cheek. It’s a bad one.”
