Leeds United gem Crysencio Summerville transfer development emerges at Brighton

Brighton and Hove Albion are exploring a move for Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville, according to The Sun.

The newspaper reported on its online edition on Thursday (6 June) that Albion are working on transfer business despite being without a manager.

Summerville has already been linked with an array of Premier League clubs, with Liverpool, Chelsea and most recently Fulham among them.

Brighton are also now on the list of Summerville’s admirers, with The Sun stating that a move is “being explored”.

In short, the Dutchman is simply too good for the Championship. Getting one season out of him in the second tier was a welcome bonus, but Leeds will surely not be so lucky this time around.

Given the number of suitors out there, including a couple of the big boys, it seems a case of when, rather than if, the 22-year-old will depart Elland Road.

Summerville scored 20 goals and assisted a further nine in 46 Championship appearances this past season and was named the division’s Player of the Season.

Little wonder manager Daniel Farke hailed the winger as “outstanding” towards the end of the season [Sky Sports], which ultimately ended in disappointment for the Whites.

The only positive for Leeds is that the growing interest will surely only drive up the player’s valuation. And given how little was paid for him, that profit will go a long way to helping the club financially.

The key then is to bring in a replacement who can contribute to what will hopefully be a push for automatic promotion in 2024-25.

In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke is ready to buy powerhouse Eric Smith after a promotion-winning season.
