Blackburn Rovers, QPR, Ipswich Town among clubs eyeing National League star
Blackburn Rovers, QPR, Ipswich Town, Southampton, Millwall and Peterborough United are all keen on Rochdale’s George Nevett, as per HITC Sport.
Blackburn Rovers, QPR, Ipswich Town, Southampton, Millwall and Peterborough United have all taken an interest in National League breakthrough star Nevett, who is on the books with Rochdale.
The 18-year-old Welshman operates at centre-back and became a starting XI mainstay over the 2023/24 campaign, making 34 league appearances. His emergence has put EFL and Premier League sides on alert.
On the way up?
We’ve seen plenty of National League prospects earn big moves up the leagues over the years and after and impressive breakthrough at Spotland with Rochdale, it could be that Nevett is one of the latest to move up the divisions and into the EFL.
Premier League admirers Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town and Southampton could make things tricker for the Football League sides keen.
Posh are well-known for recruiting young stars from lower leagues and selling them on for big profits and their centre-back exodus could quickly bring Nevett into first-team contention. Blackburn and Millwall have both displayed a willingness to give youngsters chances in the senior side too, so they could yet beat stern opposition to his signature.
The summer transfer window
Plenty of clubs have already done business this summer. Some have announced deals while others may be keeping things under wraps for the time being, with contracts yet to expire and the window not officially open yet.
Those dates are not far away though, so movement is imminent.
The transfer window officially opens this Friday while contracts will expire at the end of this month.
All of Blackburn Rovers, QPR, Ipswich Town, Southampton, Millwall and Peterborough United will be looking to do business, but time will tell if any of them are able to prize Nevett away from Rochdale with a bright future ahead of the promising Welshman.
