Brighton’s best player will make his future decision absolutely agonizing

After missing out on a top-half finish in the 2023/24 Premier League season, Brighton could be set to lose their best player.

Reports from Germany this week claim Pascal Gross is undecided about his future with Brighton and could leave the club this summer.

Bild described Gross’ future as “still pending” while he focuses on the 2024 Euros campaign with Germany.

Gross somewhat confirmed these reports, revealing that he is “ready for a return” to Germany and that he has been for some time.

However, the versatile midfielder would not be drawn into commenting on the specific rumors linking him to Eintracht Frankfurt.

“I don’t want to comment on rumors. I am now fully focused on the Euros,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

Gross reportedly nearly left Brighton before the 2022/23 season, before re-signing with the Seagulls on a new, two-year contract.

The German international’s current deal with Brighton expires in June 2025. He will be 33 years old.

Brighton signed Gross from FC Ingolstadt for just £3m ahead of the Seagulls’ first season in the Premier League back in 2017. Many regard this as one of the best signings in Premier League history. If nothing else, his signing is definitely one of the best value-for-money signings.

On September 9, 2017, Gross scored Brighton’s first ever Premier League goal in the 45th minute of a 3-1 win over West Brom.

Since then, Gross has scored 32 goals in total for the club. No player in Brighton club history has scored more than his 29 Premier League goals.

Gross, naturally an attacking midfielder, has played every outfield position on the pitch for Brighton, bar center back. He has been an ever-present name for the Seagulls under three different permanent managers.

If Gross does leave this summer, he’ll leave Brighton as one of the club’s best and most important players in the club’s history.
