Cleveland Browns Met With A Special Seasoned Ohio State Wide Receiver Heading Into The Draft

It’s that time of the year when college football pro days are happening for NFL prospects, and for the Cleveland Browns, one of their local schools, Ohio State, had their pro day on Wednesday.

Of course, Marvin Harrison Jr. is the big-time receiver from Ohio State in this year’s draft class. Still, there is a very underrated one many people aren’t discussing, and they have already spoken with the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland Browns Have Spoken With Xavier Johnson

According to Cory Kinnan from The Browns Wire, “Ohio State WR/RB Xavier Johnson has also spoken with the Browns. He said they were the first team to hit him up.”

Johnson joined Ohio State’s team as a preferred walk-on in 2018 and came to life for the team as a special team player and wide receiver in special situations.

Johnson spent six years with the Buckeyes, totaling 353 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, with 329 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

The most important thing about Johson was last year; he was rewarded the block O jersey at Ohio State, meaning he gets to wear the number 0. It’s only awarded to one person on the team, and that person who gets it is a leader on and off the field. That shows how great of a person Johnson is, and you want those types of guys in your locker room.

Johnson Could Be A Special Teams Player For The Browns

Johnson would most likely be a special teamer for the Browns if he were to end up on their roster, and I don’t think the Cleveland Browns would use a draft pick on him. The Browns have very limited draft picks, and he is one of those guys who will be a borderline late pick to an undrafted free agent. There is a good chance he does go undrafted. He could join the Cleveland Browns.
