Sheffield Wednesday transfer target posts potentially cryptic message on social media
A Sheffield Wednesday summer transfer target may have posted a potentially cryptic message on social media.
Sheffield Wednesday have a few transfer targets in their sights, ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening for business on June 14th.
Right now though, the Owls are focussed on securing fresh terms for manager Danny Rohl, who has been in talks with owner Dejphon Chansiri this week.
The latest on Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday future is that discussions over a new contract are in the final stages with Rohl and the club are now close to an agreement.
And securing Rohl’s future will allow Sheffield Wednesday to press on with player contracts and summer transfer plans.
The Owls certainly have a lot of work to do in the transfer market with several players leaving the club this summer, or having already left.
Lee Gregory has already signed for Mansfield Town whilst Reece James has now joined Rotherham United following his release.

Ike Ugbo posts potentially cryptic message on social media
Ike Ugbo is one of the players Sheffield Wednesday are keen to sign this summer, following the Canadian international’s impressive loan spell.
After joining on loan from Troyes in January, the 25-year-old scored seven goals in 18 Championship outings for the Owls.
Since, his parent club Troyes have been relegated from the French Ligue 2, fuelling speculation that Ugbo will be leaving the club on a permanent basis this summer.
He remains under contract at Troyes until the summer of 2026. But the striker has recently shared a highlights reel on Instagram, potentially suggesting that he’s putting himself in the shop window ahead of a summer transfer.
Can Sheffield Wednesday realistically sign Ike Ugbo
A permanent deal for Ugbo may not come cheap; Troyes are set to sell Mama Balde to Lyon in a deal worth £5million, after paying around £3milion for him previously.
Troyes signed Ugbo for £2.5million and Balde’s reportedly imminent sale may show us that Troyes aren’t going to sell players on the cheap this summer, despite their relegation.
So for the Owls, they may have to cough up a decent transfer sum in order to bring Ugbo back to S6 this summer, but it’s a deal well worth the money.
He showed not only his prowess in front of goal, but also his ability to put in the hard yards and compliment Rohl’s intense style of play at Sheffield Wednesday.
And Ugbo posting a highlights reel on Instagram, whilst speculative, may suggest that he’s putting the feelers out for a summer move away from Troyes.
