Jordan Love's Packers start mirrors Aaron Rodgers. But he's still missing a key advantage Rodgers had

Insider Gives Telling Update About Jordan Love’s Contract Situation

The Green Bay Packers raised eyebrows when they selected Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft as the franchise still had Aaron Rodgers in his prime.

Rodgers was playing at an MVP level and the Packers were considered contenders, so fans were confused as to why the front office would take Love when they did

However, Green Bay wound up trading Rodgers to the New York Jets years later and Love assumed the starting role to begin the 2023 NFL season.

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN - DECEMBER 17: Jordan Love #10 of the Green Bay Packers looks to pass during a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field on December 17, 2023 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Buccaneers defeated the Packers 34-20.

The move now looks genius for the Packers as Love has the makings of a franchise quarterback and amazed the fanbase when he carved up the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round.

Green Bay signed Love to a one-year extension this past offseason that would keep him under contract through next season.

However, it appears the two sides are well on their way to a longer-term deal via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Packers and QB Jordan Love are expected to revisit his contract this spring, and his price keeps going up,” Rapoport reported.

The Packers likely believe they have their next franchise quarterback in Love and extending him now makes the most sense as he would likely command more money on the open market.

The young quarterback has incredible arm talent but has also shown some creativity and playmaking instincts when he gets flushed out of the pocket.

With a matchup against the San Francisco 49ers on deck, Love could earn himself even more money if he has another big playoff game.
